Baby and Toddler Travel Checklist:

Ideas for Easy Prep

Traveling as a family is exciting but takes some planning. We’ve all forgotten our own items like toothbrushes and phone chargers, so we’ve made it easy to remember all your baby and toddler essentials.

For the smoothest sailing, creating your toddler travel checklist is key. Make pre-travel prep a breeze before boarding time arrives by checking out the following packing must-haves for toddlers and making sure all the bases are covered.

Clothing and Accessories

Be sure to pack some fun yet practical outfits for every occasion and any activity on the itinerary while traveling with toddlers. Don’t forget to check the forecast in case weather-proof clothing is needed

Pajamas for nighttime comfort
• One casual pair of shoes
• One dressy pair of shoes
• Sweaters in case your little one gets chilly
• Short and long sleeve shirts
• Socks to last the whole trip
• Plenty of pairs of underwear
• Jeans
• Shorts
• Skirts

Toiletries

Whether you’re helping the kids brush their teeth before bedtime or getting their sunscreen on for an adventurous day, adding the right toiletries to your baby travel packing list is a must. Keep everything organized in a fun bag that’s easy to keep track of.

• Toothbrush with a sanitary cover
• Kid-friendly toothpaste and mouthwash
• Moisturizing lotion for sensitive skin
• SPF products
• Toddler and kid-safe shampoo and conditioner
• Gentle body wash for bathtime

Feeding Items

Discovering new food spots is half the fun of traveling! If your tots are picky eaters or can get a little messy, adding the following items to your baby traveling checklist can help make the experience easier for on-the-go parents.

• Kid-friendly snacks (granola bars, fruit gummies, healthy chips)
• Bottles and sippy cups
• Kid-sized reusable utensils both for mobile or a more kid-friendly dine-in experience
• Bibs so messy eaters don’t spill on their limited clothing
• Tupperware to carry leftovers or bring snacks along during activities
• Insulated, reusable water bottles to make sure everyone’s hydrated

Health and Safety

Both in and out of the home, safety always comes first. No packing list for toddlers is complete without some helpful health and safety items.

• Kid-safe over-the-counter mediciness
• Band-Aids in case there’s an accident
• Cut and scrape disinfectant
• Hand sanitizer for clean hands anytime and anywhere

We take crib safety very seriously — know you can rest easy as your baby does.

Diaper Bag or Carry-On

Even if your little one isn’t yet potty-trained, changing on-the-go doesn’t have to be a hassle. Having a well-stocked diaper bag can guarantee everyone is prepared for the duration of your trip.

• Diapers, both swim and regular
• Talc-free baby powder
• Rash-soothing lotion and diaper cream
• Resealable baby wipes for cleanup
• A changing blanket for public stations
• Extra plastic bags for easy disposal

Larger Gear

Once the smaller items like clothing and toiletries are sorted, start getting larger travel essentials together. These will all come in handy, guaranteed, even if you prefer traveling as light as possible. If you’re planning on flying to your destination, be sure that the larger items on your baby vacation packing list are cleared to fly.

• Stroller to keep the whole family moving together
• Travel crib for easy set-up at bedtime
• Carrier to keep baby close in busy areas
• Baby bouncer for hands-free comfort
• Wagon to bring all the essentials along with you
• Car seat in case rental car services don’t provide one
• Mounted bike seat for children

Bedtime Items

When families are hustling through their trip itineraries, nothing gets everyone ready for the busy day ahead like a good night's rest. Your little one will need to sleep through the night to enjoy everything you've planned!

• Noise machine for fussy toddlers to have soothing white noise at bedtime
• Baby monitors in case parents have a separate room
Blankets from home for comfort
• Swaddlers and sleepsuits for smaller toddlers who can’t sleep with loose bed items yet
• Overnight diapers to keep little ones dry and comfortable through the night
• Pacifiers or teethers to soothe

Play Essentials

As exciting as traveling can be, kids often still need some stimulation during downtime. Don’t want to bring the entire toy chest along? Pack smart with the items below.

• Kid-sized headphones to keep any games or movies being played discreet
• Electronic items and accompanying chargers
• Coloring books and washable pens for mess-free fun
Stuffed animals from home
• Portable battery packs to keep devices powered up
• Puzzles and learning toys for long-lasting engagement

Other Often-Forgotten Items

You’ve made it through the entire packing list and everything seems ready to go. Feel like something’s missing? These miscellaneous items may have slipped through the cracks! If traveling internationally, be sure not to forget any important documentation on your international travel.

• A nightlight for kids who get restless in the dark
• Laundry bag to separate dirty from clean clothing items
• Portable stain remover
• Birth certificates in case proof of age is required
• Stool for hard-to-reach sinks and toilets
• Disinfectant wipes to clean travel surfaces such as plane seats and pull-down tables
• Passports if traveling internationally

Welcoming new members to the family doesn’t mean the adventures stop! With the right baby and toddler travel checklist, you won’t have to worry about bringing your little ones along to create fun, new memories. While on the move, regularly clean kids’ toys and feeding items so no germs are brought back home.
