Baby Bottle Storage Ideas

With all their tiny parts, baby bottles pose a unique storage question. There's no single correct method for how to store baby bottles, and that's good news! With a variety of different baby bottle storage ideas, it's easy to find the route that works best for your feeding style and living situation. Use these tips from us at Pottery Barn Kids for inspiration!

Baby Bottle Storage

Use Countertop Storage Drawers

Small plastic storage drawer units are ideal for organizing different small bottle parts. This is especially true when your bottle collection includes one bottle style and all the components match. Keep the storage drawer unit on your countertop. Designate one drawer for each part of the bottle: bottle cover, nipple, ring, sealing discs, screw tops and any other parts included with the bottle style you use. If the bottles themselves don't fit in these storage drawers, use a storage basket or another type of bin storage to keep them all together. Use a label describing what part goes in each drawer to keep everything straightened and prevent mix-ups. You may get kitchen cleaning help from friends or family at some point. They might not know what bottle part goes where. This organizational system works particularly well in these cases, especially when you use labels.

It's still possible to use countertop storage drawer sets if you don't have a single bottle style in your collection. It's still ideal to keep each style's components separate to maximize efficiency. Use drawers with built-in compartments to keep different bottle component designs separate, or put a single brand's components in a single drawer and organize that way.

Use Specially Made Storage Items

Parents who have plenty of counter or cabinet space don't necessarily need to make use of baby bottle storage hacks. Instead, they can choose from one of several ready-made storage items specifically designed to store baby bottles and components. Most of these organizers are plastic. They usually include special compartments for bottles. Some have separate storage for bottle tops or nipples. This isn't a particularly creative idea, but it’s quite effective! Baby bottle manufacturers may offer specialized storage products like this so you get a perfect fit for their bottles. Universal designs may not always fit your bottles well. However, they do keep things together better than simply placing the bottles in a cabinet does.

Repurpose Other Storage Items

Small kitchens often don't offer much counter or cabinet space for bottles. This might present you with the choice between getting rid of things you genuinely need or storing bottles elsewhere. In these cases, repurposed items from other rooms are lifesavers. An over-the-door hanging  closet storage basket can become the ideal bottle storage piece when you hang it on a pantry door, for example. Anything that has multiple compartments sized to fit bottles can work. Even shower caddies or bar carts may be good options.

When counter and cabinet space aren't at a premium, consider repurposing items made to store and organize similarly shaped items. Soda can dispensers are the right width to hold baby bottles stored on their sides. These dispensers use gravity and clever construction to automatically slide a new can (or bottle) into position when you remove one. The bottle behind the one you just took can roll into place. New bottles continuously move to the front as you wash and re-load fresh bottles on a rolling basis. You can also try this with full bottles in the fridge to keep a steady supply throughout the day.

Make Room for Baby

Bottles don't necessarily have to stay separate from your other kitchen supplies. If this is your first child, making room for bottles can be your first step toward a kid-friendly kitchen reorganization project. Whether in the pantry or cabinetry, making space for bottles is a way of making space for the food or tableware your child will need as they grow older. It's still a good idea to introduce some baskets or other containers to round up all the various bottle bits and pieces. However, this is a way of securing much-needed storage space and starting to adapt your home to meet the demands of a tiny new resident.

Try one or all of these bottle-organization tips. You can find which one works best for your lifestyle, and it might even spark some other creative solutions in the process!
