Seth Curry & Callie Rivers Curry's Double Design Project

If Seth Curry and Callie Rivers learned anything from designing a nursery three years ago for their daughter Carter, it’s this: Good looks only take you so far. So, Callie says, this time around, when they found out they were expecting son Cash, “we wanted to make sure that our nursery was functional and cute, not just cute!” She and her basketball star husband turned to Pottery Barn Kids for expert help—and decided to design two rooms at once: their little one’s new nursery and a big-girl room for Carter.
The couple started by giving their Pottery Barn Kids Design Expert a unique color palette for each room. Inspiration for Cash’s warm, neutral nursery came from Instagram. As for Carter’s space, “[her] favorite color is yellow, and she also happens to love rainbows,” says Callie. “So for her room, we thought rainbows and sunshine. The design team really helped us bring our vision to life.” After sharing their dream colors, the Pottery Barn Kids experts got to work, pulling together complementary pieces.

From there, they chose favorite foundational pieces like the Nash Crib, with a floor lamp nearby for soft light. The wood tones capture the warmth the couple was looking for. Seth and Callie also fell in love with the Paxton Power Recliner. “It’s super deep, which is awesome since both of us are over six feet tall,” says Callie, who played collegiate volleyball and comes from a legacy basketball family, too. “There’s an electric recline and a phone charger, which both of us use way too often!” They added Pottery Barn Teen’s Jamie Upholstered Daybed, which doubles as a guest bed and a chill-out spot for dad. “I love the daybed,” says Seth. “I always try to find spots to take a nap, and it’s a good one.”
The second-time parents are big readers, so their Design Expert recommended the Sloan Bookrack plus mounted Acrylic Wall Shelves for the nursery. “They utilize space that usually goes unused,” says Callie. “Pottery Barn Kids was able to make the space feel bigger while including everything that we needed.”

In Carter’s room, her book collection is easy to reach. “Her nighttime routine is always reading one, maybe two books,” says Seth. “So she can walk around the room and pick her favorite book and hop in her bed.” The couple also added in unexpected elements that the Design Experts suggested—like three layered rugs—and pieces that nurture her growing independence. “There are a lot of things in the room that make it easier for her to do things by herself,” says Callie, “which is definitely the phase that she’s in right now.”
The Camden House Bed was Carter’s biggest surprise of all, and it made becoming a big sister extra-fun. “It was really cool to come back to our house and reveal the big-kid’s room to Carter,” says Callie. “Seeing her first big-girl bed made her transition from the nursery easier.”

With their double design project complete, the Currys are settling in as a family of four. “I love the color palette in the nursery, and there’s a purpose for everything in the room,” says Callie. “And Carter is very excited. We’re super happy.”
