Lauren and Arie Luyendyk’s Neutral Nursery for Two
America was captivated by the whirlwind romance that brought Lauren and Arie Luyendyk together, but since then, the reality stars have slowed down to focus on their growing family. Settled in Scottsdale, AZ, the couple has created a loving little oasis away from it all where they can spend quiet time with their daughter and new twin bundles of joy. Designing a space that felt safe, functional and, above all, family-friendly for their little ones was top of mind when bringing their nursery space together.
[Our daughter] Alessi really loves animals and has a lot of them in her room, so we carried that over into the nursery.

The couple knew that keeping a calm, neutral color palette would be the ideal base to build off of in order to keep things fresh and fun for years to come. “We wanted to keep it neutral since we have both a boy and a girl. We were drawn to [the look of] black and white with natural wood,” the Luyendyks explained. When asked about the animal inspiration, the two said that was an easy one: It came from the couple’s daughter. “Alessi really loves animals and has a lot of them in her room, so we carried that over into the nursery.” From there, the neutral zoo for two they dreamed up came together effortlessly.

Making the most of the soon-to-be nursery space was crucial for the couple. “We like to do things as a family, so the room was really designed with that in mind. It includes enough space for all of us to be in there together and enjoy it,” they said together. One piece that makes family time even sweeter is Tufted Daybed, which boasts both size and functionality. Much time has already been spent there together. “For us, the daybed was the focal point since we planned to spend the most time in that corner as a family,” said the Luyendyks.
Functionality was key!
We needed a space that could accommodate two babies without looking cluttered. Pottery Barn Kids furniture pieces ensure the nursery is functional yet aesthetically pleasing.

What makes this room so special is the intentionality behind each piece. The charming, classic style works well for the baby years but also prepares the twins for the transitions ahead. “Functionality was key! We needed a space that could accommodate two babies without looking cluttered. Pottery Barn Kids furniture pieces ensure the nursery is functional yet aesthetically pleasing,” said the two. A few grow-with-them pieces like the My First Mid-Century Kitchen and the My First Table and Chairs were added in as fun additions. “As the twins get bigger, I can’t wait to watch them play with the toy kitchen or sit at the table and color,” said the couple.
Having ticked all their must-haves off their list, the finished space was declared a success. “The final product was better than anything we could have imagined! The space feels like more than just another room in our house. It’s now our favorite room and thank goodness because we spend a ton of time in it,” said the Luyendyks.
